• WELCOME MESSAGE FROM THE MBSH PTSA PRESIDENT

    Bienvenidos, padres! Welcome, parents!

I’m Tiva Leser, your President of the Miami Beach Senior High School PTSA. As a mother of four, including a Beach High sophomore, a junior and a recent grad, I know first-hand how challenging and exciting these high school years are for students and parents.  Many of you may recognize me. I’ve been President of the PTA at North Beach Elementary and Nautilus Middle schools and likely have sold you bundles of school uniforms during the past 15 years!

Yes, I’m passionate about our schools in Miami Beach and promise to work diligently to keep on making things better, especially with this amazing group of parent volunteers on this year’s PTSA Board. I’m counting on them to make us look good as we spearhead several important projects in the coming school year.

We’re committed to working with our teachers, parents, students and administrators to listen to concerns and find innovative ways to join forces. Some examples include:

    • Our PTSA Safety Committee working with administration and the City of Miami Beach to keep students and staff safe with an on-site school police officer and safety improvements throughout the campus, including vehicle traffic around the school.
    • Our newly formed PTSA Beautification Committee working with student members and teacher sponsors of the school Ecology Club to bring native plants, shade trees and an inspiring,   welcoming look to the courtyard and outdoor areas.
    • Our STEAM Committee working with students, teachers and administrators to add robotics and coding classes to the curriculum, and fuel growth in the competitive FIRST Robotics team launched just last year.

I encourage all of you to get involved. We’re a fun group and we’re always looking for new talent and enthusiasm to make a difference.

As the new school year begins, we ask for your support so that we can continue making great strides that benefit students and Beach High staff.  Many parents feel that they cannot participate in the PTSA because they cannot come to meetings or be at the school during the day. We want everyone to feel that they are a part of the Hi-Tides Beach High community. Whether you have 30 minutes or several hours to volunteer, or simply just want to renew your annual PTSA membership and read our monthly newsletter, you are a valued member of our PTSA team.

Please do not hesitate to contact us. Also, please ‘Like’ us on Facebook  and other social media for updates, reminders and see all the amazing Hi-Tides happenings.

    Sincerely,

    Tiva Leser

Miami Beach Senior High PTSA President
