  • The Bad Book Society Book Fair

The Bad Book Society Book Fair

The Bad Book Society Book Fair will be tomorrow, Tuesday, October 1st during 8th period and Wednesday, Oct. 2nd during 7th beneath the shelter by the cafeteria and auditorium where club rush was held. Feel free to bring your classes and pass this message along to other English teachers and classes that may not be informed. Student participation is paramount as all of our proceeds will be donated to the winner of the BBS Creative Writing Contest which will be held in the weeks after the book fair. I hope to see you all there, thank you so much for your patience and I apologize for the short notice.

Review: MBSH's newest club, Bad Book Society (BBS) is a wonderful club which inspires students to read and write creatively. The club's most prominent activity is it's book fair which is possible through generous book donations from students and teachers. BBS's initial Book Fair of the year will be held this coming Tuesday, October 1st during 8th period and Wednesday, October 2nd during 7th period. All students and teachers are welcome to this activity. Please encourage your students to come and purchase some of the wonderful yet gently used selections that we are offering as all proceeds will be donated as a monetary reward for the winner of a BBS-run Creative Writing contest to be held shortly after the fair. BBS and I hope to see you all there and we welcome all donations and participants.

  • In Humanity's Footsteps

Holocaust Education Student Trip to Poland in November , 2019. Just a few spots still open.

This Thanksgiving Break, Miami Beach High 11th and 12th graders have the opportunity to travel to Poland as part of a Holocaust Education Program called “In Humanity's Footsteps”. Over the course of the five day trip, participants will learn about the atrocities of the Holocaust… visiting sites where they occurred including Auschwitz, Birkenau, and Majdanek. The trip is preceded by three pre-departure Sunday Seminars.  Opportunities still exist for this year's 11th and 12th graders to register for the trip and join experienced Holocaust educators, as well as Miami Heat legend Ray Allen and Judge Marilyn Milian of The People's  Court, on this empowering, lifelong- learning experience. If you are interested, or to find out more about the cost of this deeply subsidized trip, please visit https://ihfootsteps.org<https://ihfootsteps.org/> , or reach out to David Reese, Language Arts Teacher at Miami Beach Senior High, at djreesed@dadeschools.net<mailto:djreesed@dadeschools.net, or In Humanity's Footsteps President and CEO Aley Sheer, at aleysheer@gmail.com. Kudos to The Miami Beach Alumni Association, which has sponsored $5,000 worth of Scholarship funding to enable 5 eleventh and twelfth grade Hi-Tides to have this experience.
