Ms. Lesley Gent

LESLEY GENT, Chairperson, Fine Arts Department;

Vocal Music and Keyboard Programs

Originally from Youngstown, Ohio, Ms. Gent moved to

South Florida in 2007 in order to reunite with her two

sisters and check out the Florida Arts & Culture scene.

She accepted her first public teaching position here at

Beach High in September 2012, and is thrilled to be

sharing her passion, skills, and knowledge via the

Vocal Music and Keyboard programs.

 

In addition to leading two choral groups at Beach

High, Ms. Gent currently teaches five sections of

Keyboard and one section of Vocal Techniques - an

intensive class for serious solo singers.

In 2014, she created Beach High's first-ever

contemporary show choir, HARD CHORUS.

 

Ms. Gent brings extensive and diverse experience across

several industries, including classical/theatrical music performance

and coaching, instruction and advisement in higher education, and

business management.

 

She has performed leading roles in local and professional theater, 

oratorio, and opera, winning several awards,

including the YACTA Award for Best Actress In A Musical

(Evita, 2004), and First Place in Adult Musical

Theater for the 2003 NATS Competition at Carnegie Mellon

University. She also performed as a soloist with the Aspen

Music Festival in 1998 (Soprano, Bach Cantata No. 147). 

 

When she's not teaching, Ms. Gent

keeps busy as a singer/songwriter and music producer. She also enjoys

engaging in fitness activites, reading, and writing/blogging.  

 

Ms. Gent currently resides in South Beach, Miami.
