AP HUMAN GEOGRAPHY RUBENSTEIN TEXTBOOK ACCESS:
AP Human Geography is a subject matter directly related to other fields of knowledge that affect students' educational life, namely Government and Politics, World and American History, Statistics —students should establish the links among all these academic areas under the leadership and expertise of teachers. This is one of the main goal in my class —to build students' skills and capacities to observe and understand the world around them in its influences, confluences and divergences.
We are not isolated individuals, communities or nation-states and globalization —as it is defined by the National Geographic's Resource Library: "… a term used to describe the increasing connectedness and interdependence of world cultures and economies" — is an unstoppable process due to the huge development of Information Technology and the actual impossibility to disconnect of de facto economic and financial —world and regional— structures.
As the COVID-19 pandemic has evolved since late 2019 and earlier 2020, the topics and issues covered in AP Human Geography classes have become more relevant and significant. It is extremely important that students taken this class developed, along with the traditional learning skills of memorization and reproduction of contents —assessed in quizzes, tests and other serial evaluations—, the ability to think critically demonstrated in the completion of short and long Free Response Questions (FRQ) and essays, as well as in seminars, in which students and teachers have an active interaction in a question/answer context.
